Your tripod may not fit. Which tripod do you have. Loosen the straps as loose as they will go and try to put your tripod around them. Then try to tighten them. I use some larger/sturdier tripods by Bogen/Manfrotto and Gitzo. The don’t usually work well with gadget bags. The cheap $50 or less tripods usually attach with plenty of room.
